First Post

Welcome to the first post of the blog! I made this blog mostly to capture the different quilts and sewing projects I complete, mainly for my own benefit to keep track of the different fabrics I use.

I started sewing/quilting in August 2011. I had finished my Master's program earlier that summer, so I finally had some free time to start up a hobby. My grandma has been quilting for as long as I can remember, so I decided to start sewing myself. My wonderful husband talked to my grandma about what kind of sewing machine to get me, and my grandma offered me one of hers - a Pfaff 7570. This is a great machine! I haven't tried any of the embroidering yet, but hopefully soon.

Since I got the machine, I have...
1) Made shear curtains for our front door (that still need to be hemmed)
2) Took Quilting 101 class and made a quilt block (which I framed and gave to my grandma for Christmas)
3) Made tote bags
4) Made Christmas stockings
5) Made quilted potholders for a Christmas present
6) Made a Christmas wall-hanging from a kit
7) Made my first quilt
8) Made a quilt for my nephew (will describe more in another post)
9) Made a wall-hanging for CMQG challenge (will describe more in another post)
10) Made a bench cushion for the bench/shoe rack my husband built (will describe more in another post)

So far, I've been loving sewing and quilting. I've joined the Cincinnati Modern Quilt Guild and really enjoy going to those meetings and seeing what everyone else makes. This is definitely becoming a hobby and borderlining an obsession. :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I have a list that keeps growing of projects that I want to do that I'll show on here whenever I get them done.
